Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about pricing, the booking page, the widget, setup and how SitPup compares with general schedulers and larger pet-care platforms.

General

What is SitPup?

SitPup is booking software for pet sitters, dog walkers, pet hotels and small pet care businesses. You can publish a booking page, add a booking button to a site you already use, and review requests in a calendar.

Who is SitPup for?

It is mainly for independent pet sitters, dog walkers, home boarding businesses, small pet hotels, groomers, trainers and other small pet care services.

Do I need my own website?

No. You can use the SitPup booking page on its own. If you already have a website, add the booking button there instead, or use both.

Can I add bookings to my current website?

Yes. Add the booking button to your current site and it opens the SitPup form. You can also send clients the direct booking link in messages.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. You can start without a credit card and try the basic SitPup features for free.

Can I send invoices to clients?

Yes. Once a booking is confirmed, generate an invoice from it, send it to the client and track whether it has been paid — no separate accounting tool is needed to get started.

Does anyone actually use SitPup?

Yes. 100+ pet care businesses already run bookings through SitPup. The feedback we hear most: setup is quick, and fewer booking details get lost between messages.

Pricing & Commission

Does SitPup take commission on bookings?

No. You pay for the plan you choose. SitPup does not take a percentage of bookings, and you handle payment with clients on your own terms.

Is the booking page really free?

It is. The Free plan includes the booking page, with no cost to publish it and no commission on bookings.

Does SitPup cost more as my business grows?

Paid plans raise monthly booking and profile limits. There is no booking commission and no per-employee fee, so cost is not tied to the value of each booking or the size of your team.

Your Booking Page

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You fill in a form in the dashboard: services, prices, photos and a page address. Publishing takes a few minutes.

Can I use my own domain name?

Your page is hosted at your own address on sitpup.com, like yourname.sitpup.com, so there is no domain to buy or manage yourself.

Can I also add a widget to an existing website?

Yes. The same setup powers both, so you can use the page, the widget, or both at once.

The Booking Widget

What is a pet booking widget?

It's a button or embedded form on a pet care business's website. Clients use it to send a specific request instead of a general message.

Does the widget slow down my website?

It shouldn't. The script is tiny, and the booking form itself only loads once someone actually opens it.

Can I add the widget to more than one page?

Yes, the same code works wherever you paste it, so you can add it to your homepage, a services page and a contact page at the same time.

Does SitPup work with WordPress and Wix?

Yes on both, as long as your site lets you add custom HTML or an embed block. The same two-line snippet works in a WordPress Custom HTML block, a Wix embed element or a plain HTML page.

Setup & Availability

How long does it take to set up?

Most of it is entering your real services. Switch on the pet types you accept, set prices and capacity per service, then add your weekly availability. There is nothing to install, and the only code involved is the optional two-line widget snippet.

Can I still take bookings by phone or in person?

You can. Add a manual reservation from the dashboard yourself, and phone or in-person requests sit next to online ones in the same calendar.

Can I limit how many pets I take on at once?

Set a capacity per service. Once a date reaches that limit, SitPup stops taking new requests for that service.

Comparisons & Alternatives

Can I use Calendly for pet sitting?

Calendly can work for single short visits. For multi-day stays, per-service capacity and pet details, you usually end up adding custom questions and checking the real availability yourself.

Is SitPup cheaper than Time To Pet?

For one person, yes: SitPup's Free plan costs nothing to start, while Time To Pet's lowest published plan is $25 a month with no permanent free tier. For a team, Time To Pet's cost depends on how many active staff you have each month.

Does Booksy support pet sitting and dog boarding?

Booksy Biz is positioned around beauty and wellness businesses, and pet care is not listed among its supported industries. Pet sitting and boarding providers can be found through Booksy's separate consumer marketplace, which works like a local directory.

Is SitPup cheaper than KennelBooker?

For getting started, yes: SitPup's Free plan costs nothing, while KennelBooker's lowest published plan is $49.99 a month for up to 10 boarding rooms and no permanent free tier.
